Change of date for Pattaya Women’s Tennis Open

The 2015 PTT Pattaya Open, WTA professional women’s tennis tournament will be held one week later next year from the 08-15 February, as the Fed Cup will be played in the week following the Australian Open.  Next year the prize money will remain at US$250,000 with the venue confirmed as the Dusit Thani Hotel, Pattaya.

Tournament Director Geoffrey Rowe said that “the event moving back one week will not make any significant difference to the field for the 2015 PTT Pattaya Open.  We are currently looking into player commitment for the tournament and we hope to have most of the key players on our preferred list signed up by the end of the US Open in August.”

The 2015 PTT Pattaya Open, will continue the tradition of being staged at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Pattaya.  It is now in its 24th year, and is one of the longest running events on the WTA Tour tennis calendar.  The WTA tour is the global leader in women’s professional sport with more than 2,500 players representing 92 nations competing for more than $118, 000,000 in prize money at the WTA’s 54 events and 4 Grand Slams in 33 countries.

The tournament is staged over 8 days of competition, with the 16 draw singles qualifying rounds staged on the first Sunday and Monday.  The 32 main draw singles and 16 main draw doubles start on the Monday with the finals staged on the last day of the tournament (Sunday 15 February).

Previous winners of the tournament including Agniezka Radwanska of Poland, Vera Zvonareva of Russia, Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia, Maria Kirilenko of Russia and Ekaterina Makarova of Russia.
