On Saturday, February 27 a group of 25 golf enthusiasts met at Burapha Golf Course to attend the first annual “Chrusi’s Golfing Lounge Charity Trophy”, organized by Pattaya’s longtime resident Christoph “Chrusi” Balzli, owner of Sintotex.
The weather was fabulous, the golf course in top shape, and the players in a great mood. After all, they knew that they were playing for a good cause: to support Jesters Care for Kids.

The entry fee for the tournament was 3,500 baht and included the green fee, caddy and cart fee, golf towel, and dinner. In addition to the proceeds for the tournament, money was raised with penalties for playing into bunkers, water, and requiring more than three putts. The organizer of the event paid an additional 500 baht for each birdie and 100 baht for each par. This raised a total of 52,300 baht during the day.
Winners of the event were Thomas Rüegsegger in A Flight with 38 points, Marco Andrighetto taking B Flight with a whopping 42 points and Alice Balzli in the Ladies Flight with 40.
Golfers gather at the start to help raise funds for Jesters Care for Kids.
After sunset, the group met for a spectacular 3-course dinner at Ristorante Da Marco on the ‘Darkside’ of Pattaya. They celebrated the winners and enjoyed talking about golf and life in Pattaya until late at night, when two members of the group, Marco Andrighetto and Josef Schrott, spontaneously donated an additional 10,000 baht each, bringing the total to 72,300 baht to go to the charity.
All participants agreed that playing golf in Thailand is fun and doing it with wonderful friends is even better, but it pales in comparison to doing it for a good cause.
