The first major competition of the year at the Coco Lawn Bowling center in Pattaya saw an entry of 32 for the Open Singles tournament last weekend.
This event included 23 Thai players, a remarkable turnaround from a few years ago, and saw eight leagues of four players produce some excellent performances, but the end result had former crown bowls champion from the UK, Darren Chatwin, just managing to hold off the challenge of Thai ladies champion Sue Bryant in the final, with “Boy” taking the third spot.
