Chonburi route set for Dec. 11 ‘Bike for Dad’

Crowds thronged to Chonburi’s provincial hall to register for December’s ‘Bike for Dad’ cycling event to honor HM the King.

People packed into the hall Nov. 2 for the start of registration, which ran through Nov. 10.

The main biking event will take place over a 29-kilometer track in Bangkok, with Chonburi holding its own event at the same time: 3-6:30 p.m. on Dec. 11.

Chonburi’s route begins at the provincial hall and passes eight landmarks, including the King Rama V monument, Hor Pra Budda Sihing, Suan Tan Temple, Meung Mai Temple, Angsila Temple, Tam Nak Maharaj, Komutrattanaram Temple, and Nah Ja Sa Tai Jui Temple.

After leaving the start line, cyclists will ride down Partsapetra Road, turning right onto Wachirapakarn Road and right again at the Chonrajsadornamrung School intersection.  The route continues past Angsila, around the S2 Hotel on Bangsaen 1 Road with a rest stop at the Leam Tan zone.  Riders then reverse course and head back along the same route.

The number of ‘Bike for Dad’ participants in Bangkok has already reached the limit of 99,999.  In other provinces, cyclists taking part in the project already number more than 360,000.  Around 10,000 Thai people living overseas have also registered to join the activity.
