Monday, June 27, Mountain Shadow – Stableford

There was only one division out today and a warm welcome back to Ted Morris.  It was a cool and pleasant day and as always the course was in reasonable condition, but the greens not as fast as they have been over the last couple of visits here.

Ted won the day with 35 points and there were three players in with 34 points contesting the next two places; Gordon Everingham finished second after his 21 points on the back nine, Chris Voller was third with 17 and the Frenchman lost out with a meagre score of 15 on the count-back.

Ted and Nick Payne shared the ‘2’s in division 1 after birdies on the 15th and 17th and a rollover in division 2 to Bangpra on Wednesday.

Wednesday, June 29, Bangpra – Stableford

Back to reality, five groups out and of course two divisions for the men.  The first hole here has been reverted to the original green but this is not a problem.  It was a very gloomy sky as we drove down the 7 to this course, but the threatening skies disappeared and it was another perfect day weather wise.

The cut today was 6-18 in division 1 and 19+ plus in division 2 and in form yet again with the best score of the day and winning division 1, Chris Voller, playing off 7, won with 37 points.  Eric Reginiussen took second one point behind after beating Andy Baber on an 18/15 back nine count-back.

Just arrived back from the land of Oz, Terry Redding won division 2 with 30 points while count-back Burnie, as always, beat Peter Grant 12/11 on the back nine as they both came in with 29 points.

No ‘2’s today in either division so a rollover to Emerald next Wednesday due to the Haven’s charity competition at Khao Kheow on Monday.

Friday, July 1, Eastern Star – Stableford

There had been heavy rain here in this area for almost a week and this had improved all the greens except one which still needs a couple of weeks.

Torrential rain all the way down in the mini bus and as we arrived it eased and four groups teed off a little later than normal after a short wait.  There was a slight drizzle on the first 7 holes but this stopped and the rest of the round was played in cool conditions.

On the podium again in the first division, Chris Voller won with 37 points with Mikael Andersson second 8 points behind.

Jim Lanes 34 points won division 2 with Bryan Priestley second on 32.

There were no ‘2’s in either division so this is building up to our Eastern Star Extravaganza on the last Friday of this month.

Another goodbye today to little David Taylor who goes back to the UK and returns in late November.  Details of our week’s trip to Chang Mai on September 10th are being finalised and will be on the board at Siam Cats in the next few days.
