City stages Mountain Bike Challenge 2011

Pattaya City deputy mayor Weerawat Khakhay chaired the kick off of the Pattaya Mountain Bike Challenge 2011 at 1pm on Saturday, April 30, at Thappaya Hill public garden.  

Also in attendance were Pattaya mountain bike club president Manot Nongyai and members of the general public and parents who sent their kids in to compete for prizes worth over 100,000 baht.

Manot said the activity was staged to promote extreme sports and fun and to develop the kids to go on to compete in international events.

Saturday saw the riders compete in a downhill competition while the following day saw them return to take part in a cross country event over a 6km course on Pratamnak Hill.

The age groups of those participating ranged from 10-60 years old and prizes were awarded in multiple age and gender groups.  All the winners received trophies from Pattaya Mayor Ittipol Khunplome.
