The Pattaya Golf Society (IPGC) at Rabbi’s Elephant Bar
After a hectic week for the golfers of the Pattaya Golf Society, things got back to normal on Friday, 13th December, with a trip to Pleasant Valley to play a stableford competition in two flights from the blue tees, divided at sixteen and under.
The course was in excellent condition but it was crowded with occasional holiday golfers seeking a break from the bustle of Pattaya. In hot and humid conditions a five-hour-plus round is no fun – and neither was the Friday drive back.
A tight back nine and a strong breeze held scores down and in the second flight Dave Plaiter continued where his Championship golf finished earlier in the week with a third place finish on 31 points, whilst Paul Taylor went one better to finish runner-up with 32 points. Ken Grimes topped the tight flight with 33 points.
In the top division Mark Cooper and Takeshi Hakozaki shared third place with 31 points whilst newly returned Michael Lindberg played one of the best rounds in his seven year career with PGS returning 32 points for second place. The winner was Scottish golfer Iain Wilson and the class of his three handicap was evident with the best gross of the day, 76 shots giving him 35 points.
There was a plethora of birdie ‘2’s with Peter Wilson, Peter Ditz, Robbie Taylor, Ken Grimes, Henry Mah and Gubbi Innvaer (2) sharing the spoils.
Thus a heavy golf week ended for the Soi Buakhao based group and thoughts turned to more excellent courses scheduled for the rest of the month.
