Coco Club Lawn Bowls update

Well the boys certainly took to heart their losing sequence by bouncing back to scoop almost everything in December.

First up was Thailand’s very own Bank, who won the Sunday pairs scramble playing with 8 different players.  He not only won the singles element but also attained the highest bowls score.

Then up stepped Dave ‘the Pro’ and ‘Mushroom’ Ian to claim the Wednesday pairs by a 35 point bowls margin from runners up Dan and Dennis.  This was followed by the Friday triples where some high class bowling had to be played by Aussie John, Dutch Dennis and Scottish Alex to catch up and eventually overtake the favourites Lek, Pukky and Tanom, but the ladies did have some success by taking the last match to take the Friday League Cup.

On the King’s birthday, a full house of 32 players in pairs competed for the King’s Cup and League with some serious combinations, but a new format kept everyone alive to the last bowl with Joe and Tanom taking the individual honours and being the only unbeaten side and highest points scorers.  Then the team honours went in order of points scored to ‘green watch’ Kelvin and Coco Sue followed by Dave and Pin, Ken and Dan and Skinny partnered by new UK player Andy.

Note:  Fun bowls days will be held on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays until after the Christmas break with new leagues all restarting in January.  Any newcomer can call Sue on 087 135 8357 to have a go and join in while Saturdays are open for school/college aged new players to try it out with free bowls and free tuition from the national class players.
