PSC Golf from Colin’s Bar

Sunday, July 17, Green Valley – Stableford

1st Phil Davies (15) 39pts

2nd Christen Boysen (10) 38pts

3rd Manfred Hanke (29) 38pts

4th J.P. Maffray (16) 38pts

Another early Sunday morning tee-off and with carts allowed in the fairways, despite the recent rain, it was play the ball as it lies today.

At the 1st hole it looked like we had come to a different course as the management have filled in the second part of the water hazard and intend to bring the fairway closer to the tee.  This will presumably make the drop zone redundant and until the grass grows it’s GUR and normal rules apply

Three 4-balls out today and Phil Davies came out on top with a fine round of 39 points. He was followed up the podium steps by Christen Boysen, Manfred Hanke and J.P. Maffray respectively, all locked on 38 points and being separated by count back.

Monday, July 18, The Emerald – Stableford

A Flight

1st Mike Allidi (4) 39pts

2nd Ed Wyckoff (12) 36pts

B Flight

1st Manfred Hanke (29) 34pts

2nd Oliver Gachoud (24) 31pts

15 players today for Emerald, our first visit here in many months and the good news was the special Monday rate of 1150 THB for green fee, caddy and cart.  The course itself was very green but the fairways could do with a good cut and also the rough was very thick.  All this made for a very difficult day.

We had two flight and Mike Allidi topped the A flight with a superb round of 39 points off his 4-handicap, followed in by Ed Wyckoff with 36 points.

Manfred Hanke won the B flight on 34 points ahead of Frenchman Oliver Gachoud in second on 31.

The near pins were claimed by Nigel Harrison & Mike Allidi and the longest putt by Tip Briney.

Wednesday, July 20, Burapha A & B – Stableford

Everyone was at the course in good time today and with 17 players we had three 3-balls and two 4-balls.  Carts were restricted to the paths only so ‘lift clean and cheat’ was the order of the day.

Christen Boysen must have thought he had done enough to win after returning to the clubhouse with 42 points under his belt, but he hadn’t reckoned on Colin ‘the Donkey’ Davis having one of his most memorable rounds as he stormed home with 43 points to claim victory by one.  Nigel Harrison came in third with a respectable 38 points.

Nick Shaw was going well until the 16th, where he got stung by some exotic creature (not from Soi 6) and that put paid to his challenge.

Near pins went to Colin Davis & Christen Boysen and the longest putt to Barry Oats.

Friday, July 22, Greenwood A & C – Stableford

1st Mogens Melander (27) 38pts

2nd Steve Baker (19) 38pts

3rd Phil Davies (16) 34pts

4th Christen Boysen (10) 33pts

Thirteen players turned up for Greenwood today for our special price 1050 THB for green fee, caddy and cart. The course was in magnificent condition considering the amount of rain we have had recently, with fairways nicely cut and carts allowed to go on them.

Mogens Melander followed 18 points on the front nine with 20 on the back half to record 38 overall and take top spot on the podium on a count back over Steve Baker.  Phil Davies and Christen Boysen rolled in next in third and fourth places with 34 and 33 points respectively.

Stuart Mann recorded the longest putt of the day.
