PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Monday, Nov. 30, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

We had 34 eager golfers waiting to take on Mountain Shadow and the 3 buses were filled with some optimistic golfing enthusiasts.

Playing from the blue tees the scores were not too bad, with the one outstanding score being that of the day’s winner, John Davis, who showed a clean pair of heels to the rest of the field.

(L to R) Fritz Webber, John Davis and John Coetzee.

The tee boxes on the course were in very bad condition and markers appeared not to have been moved for some considerable time, something that could be rectified with very little effort.

Thursday, Dec. 3, Crystal Bay – Stableford

Thirty-two golfers with extreme optimism headed out last Thursday for the Growling Swan’s venture to Crystal Bay.  The weather was sultry and muggy for our 8 groups and we played C and A nines in that order (A nine was used for the count-backs).  The course was in good nick but struggled against some power hitters off the yellow tees.

(L to R) Sandy Leiper, George Wilson & Stu Rifkin.

Stuart Rifkin blitzed 25 points on the back nine to eke out a win alongside George Wilson and Sandy Leiper in their respective grades.  Sandy obviously enjoys this course, being a past winner.  Other bouquet performances came from Don Richardson, Alex Field and Frank Riley, whilst JJ Harney and Max Bracegirdle were delighted with their placings.

It was great to see Allain Taddai back playing golf after his extended layoff.  Welcome back Papa!
