At Pattavia on Monday the first division was led in by Mark Cooper with a very solid round of one over handicap.   Most of the results were affected by a rain stoppage following the front nine when the weather turned very bad and which left the course waterlogged.

Steve Evans took second place just one ahead of Greg Ignatieff, who returned seven 3-pointers in a very mixed bag of results.  David Dines and Bruce Hilde rounded out the division in fourth and fifth places.

The second division was taken by Peter Brown after he returned the best round of the day with a card without a zero on it.  He was followed by Billy Riley after he had lost a count-back for the win with a worse 15 to 19 after a n excellent opening half.  There then followed a three-way count-back for third which was won by Murray Edwards ahead of Markku Tynell in fourth, and Phil Cass in fifth after the latter had the worst of the rain through the back nine.

There were no 2s in the first division but the leaders of the second division had one each so Peter Brown and Billy Riley shared the pool.

So many players wanting to prepare for the Championships required the formation of three divisions with them all being won with under handicap scores.

The first was won by Mike Dabanovich with a best of the day three under handicap return which was good enough by a clear four strokes ahead of Peter Ditz, also playing after a long break.

Mark Cooper then won a three-way count back to leave Adrian Cook in fourth and Andrew Purdie in fifth.

The second division was taken by Murray Edwards with a good one under round, some six clear of second placed Christer Olsson, who in turn was one in front of another count-back for third and fourth which Hal Hart won over Dave Paul.

That left the third division to be swept away by Tom McCarthy who led second placed Billy Riley by three after a very tidy round at one under handicap.

Brendan Dunne made up for just missing out in the prizes with the sole ‘2’ of the day.

The second of the current season’s monthly medals was played at Pattaya Country Club where the course looks to be continuing to improve.

The first division was secured by a one over handicap round from Graham Davis as he won by two from David Dines in second place, Jon Batty in third, and Steve Evans in fourth.

The second division was won by Billy Riley, who was battling a severe bout of illness, but still managed to return a five under handicap return to cap off a fine week.  He finished a clear seven strokes in front of Brian Lewis while Greg Ignatieff placed third another shot back and one ahead of a count-back that saw Shuichi Kodaka edge Hal Hart.

There were once again no ‘2’s in the first division but the second division produced three, one each from Hat Hart, Shuichi Kodaka and Brian Lewis.
