PSC Golf from The Growling Swan
Monday, May 4, Treasure Hill G.C. – Stableford
Despite today being a holiday, negotiating a 1,300 baht green fee, caddy and cart was an absolute coup which the seventeen starters much appreciated.
Welcomes were handed out to David Deira from South Africa, Tony Campbell Australia and Pattaya resident Walter Baechli. Pierre Cere was farewelled returning to Canada.
The weather was very warm for most of the day however a cooling breeze and overcast conditions coming down the stretch provided some relief. The course was in good condition and the greens on the first nine, though being recently cored and sanded, putted truly.

One grade today and David Deire finished first handing in thirty five points. Second was Rudy Reganase on thirty three with Graham Rice, despite receiving a very attractive post nocturnal activity alternative, scoring thirty one for third place.
At the corner, Stu Rifkin’s score was so crook it looked like it belonged on the Grim Reaper’s Christmas card list. However he rallied to muster twenty points on the flip side for a total of thirty, relegating Mike Gosden on the same score to fifth place.
1st David Deire (18) 35pts
2nd Rudy Reganase (15) 33pts
3rd Graham Rice (13) 31pts
4th Stu Rifkin (17) 30pts
5th Mike Gosden (15) 30pts
Long Putts: #9 Kissy Buchanan, #18 Peter Grey.
Near Pins: Rudy Reganase, Paul Avery (2).
Scott Lobenwein’s game was in more pieces than the Australian Federal Labor party caucus debating uranium, and as a result he was awarded The Coveted Compass Cap.
Thursday, may 7, Khao Kheow – Stableford
Thursday brought 16 golfers at the ready for the Growling Swan venture to Khao Kheow, a favourite of many golfers in Pattaya. Greetings were handed out to Ernie Picken (Melbourne) and Peter Bye was farewelled later over several frothies. Digger devo, Muncher celebrated his birthday in fine style back at the bar. “Happy birthday Muncher!”
The weather was sultry and we played C and B nines in that order. The course was in good nick, however, after recent sanding, the greens played unusually slow.
On the front nine our low marker, Sal Brizzi, was playing so well it looked like he could use a door snake to hit the ball, however as the match unfolded his putter became a door snake. Unfortunately for John Anderson he succumbed to some outstanding sledging by the usual suspects.
Kev Waycott returned to some semblance of form to snaffle top spot with 37 points and pip Sal on 36. Mike Gosden (33pts) played his usual steady golf but was unlucky to be stiffed on a count back by the consistent David Deire.
A fantastic gesture by a near pin winner was followed suit by all other novelty (near pins and longest one putt) winners. The result being, all novelty prize money was donated to Deefa (GS charity collector dog).
The players are thanked for their continued generosity. Well done indeed!
1st Kevin Waycott (10) 37pts
2nd Sal Brizzi (6) 36pts
3rd Alex Field (17) 35 pts
4th David Deire (18) 33pts
