Phoenix Tuesday/Friday Golf Group
After quite a long layoff during the summer months, Denis Dixon found his form to snatch first place today, Dec. 6, with 36 points and winning on count back from yours truly, also with 36 points. Third place went to Bill Hewitt with 34 points, and joint fourth were Graham Ellis and David Czernie with 32 each.
The best guest score of the day went to Peter Rawling with a score of 31 points.
Near pin winners were Barry Copestake, Peter Rawling, Bill Hewitt & John Kelly. John’s near pin was all the more amazing by the fact that he used his driver on a 160 yard par three and stuck it 6 feet from the pin – sadly just missing his birdie attempt.

With a strong wind blowing today there were also some notable shots which included reaching par 5’s in two when the wind was behind. Mind you, it still had to be two mighty good shots.
Although the greens had been treated with weed killer and not having been cut, they were not quite as fast as normal, but according to some they were still too tricky for comfort.
With the weather conditions now settled, the course is in superb shape and we fear the worst when the greens have been cut for next week.
Back at the ‘ranch’, as we say, the owners, Ung and Dieter, plus the staff of the Relax Bar, made us all feel very welcome as usual. The first drink to all who come back is discounted and paid for out of the days registration fee, leaving a small amount to be divided up for the victors of the day.
With two of the near pins not claimed today we had 5 lucky draw winners and we thank our hosts the Relax Bar for donating a free massage and free drink to two of our winners today.
Next week we play for the KPK Food Services voucher and the week after the Nemo’s Music Lounge voucher. Both will be Stableford competitions. The last Tuesday of the month will be for the Trattoria Italiana voucher and will be stroke play.
