PSC Softball Sunday

A record crowd turned out to see Sunday’s contest between Tyler’s “Dodgers” vs. Jerry’s “Kids” on November 25.  It was a 3-game series that saw softball at its best, showcasing some brilliant defense and smart batting.

We saw the return of the great “Beck”, flown in from the Japanese major leagues and in toe was all star second baseman Terry, who turned in a great performance both on offense and defense with several acrobatic catches and a relay throw to Beck at third base to take away my triple.  But it was Ricky Z who would claim the game’s MVP as he showed glimpses of the glory days.

Playing shortstop for the “Dodgers”, Rick came up with great play after great play with some fantastic glove work and throws, including several double plays to help secure many 1-2-3-and out innings against the “Kids”.

Games 1 and 2 were won by the “Dodgers” while the “Kids” battled back late and took game 3.  A big thanks to Rick Smith for his tireless efforts to pitch both ways in a very fair and balanced competition, and who by the way made several of his signature up-the-middle catches on liners hit at the mound.
