Pattaya United’s free scoring Toyota Cup form was brought to a disappointing halt last Saturday at the Nongprue Stadium as they were held to a goalless home  draw by Yamaha Division 1 strugglers Krabi FC.

United failed to get into top gear in a lackluster first half showing and Krabi were unlucky not to take a 1-0 advantage into the halftime break as only the Pattaya woodwork denied them a deserved lead.  United’s best chance fell to midfielder Phicha Au-Tra but his shot was well smothered by Krabi keeper Anusorn Chansod.

The Dolphins tried to inject more urgency into their play in the second half but they appeared to be suffering a post Songkran hangover and most of their build up play and passing remained sloppy at best.

Defender Lee Won-young went close to giving Pattaya the lead but his close range header flew just over the Krabi crossbar bar and then Komazec saw his low shot from the edge of the area superbly tipped around the post by Chansod.  It was to be the nearest United came to breaking the deadlock and they had to be content with a single point that leaves them in ninth place in the league standings, nine points behind leaders Police United.

Pattaya were due to play an away match at Bangkok FC this past Wednesday, and this coming Saturday will take on TTM Lopburi at the Nongprue Stadium.  Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

In the Thai Premier League, Chonburi FC continued their shaky start to the season with a 2-2 draw away at Bangkok Glass last Sunday.  The ‘Sharks’ twice took the lead through second half goals from Leandro and Cho Byung-Kuk but each time they were pegged back by strikes from Goshi Okubo and Lazarus Kaimbi, the latter’s goal coming late in stoppage time.

Chonburi have now slipped to thirteenth position in the top flight standings with only eight points from their first seven league matches.  The Sharks were due to take on Thai Port FC on Wednesday and will travel to league leaders Suphanburi this coming Sunday, May 3.
