Pattaya United slipped into the bottom five relegation places last Sunday following a 4-2 loss at the hands of a dominant Buriram at the Dolphins Stadium in Pattaya.
A first half double by Buriram’s Brazilian striker Edgar Silva, including a superb opening goal, saw the league leaders go into the break with a healthy 2-0 advantage. Pattaya’s closest effort in the first 45 minutes came from Rafinha who flashed a shot just wide of the Buriram goal.
The game was effectively sealed for the visitors in the 58th minute when Silva was again on the end of another scintillating Buriram move to score his team’s third goal and secure his hat-trick in the process.
Pattaya fought hard to gain some self respect in the game and Dolphins winger Picha Utra reduced the deficit in the 63rd minute when he beat the Buriram offside trap and calmly slid the ball past the advancing Tedsungnoen in the visitors’ goal.
Buriram restored their three goal advantage with 10 minutes to go through Silva’s compatriot Diego Luis Santo, only for the home to team to have the final say through a last minute consolation goal from substitute Vongkorn.
Pattaya United are next at home on Saturday, May 26 when they welcome SCG Muangthong to Dolphins Stadium. Kick-off is at 7pm.
