Tuesday, June 20, Pleasant Valley – Stableford
We went to Pleasant Valley on Tuesday and found the course in reasonable condition. Problem here is that they keep watering the fairways and greens too long and sometimes just stop before you come on the green. Some greens still had standing water when we had to putt.
We had an interesting game with a thrilling battle between Paddy Devereux and Paul Davies. At the end Paddy won with 37 stableford points, beating Paul on a count back. The near pins went to Paddy Devereux, Stan Rees, Dave Smith and Jonathan Pratt.
Thursday, June 22, Wangjuntr – Stableford
On Thursday we went down to Wangjuntr hoping to play the Valley course but unfortunately this was under maintenance. No problem though as we could play the Highland layout and this one was a real challenge for us. The front nine gave reasonable results but the back nine was very hard.
The day began well with nice sunny weather but on the back nine the black clouds came in and we got a real good shower. After 30 minutes it relented and we could continue our game.
No really high scores today. Dave Smith and Paddy Devereux kept each other honest and at the end Dave won with 30 points on his card, one ahead of Paddy.
The near pins were claimed by Jonathan Pratt, Dave Smith and Willem Lasonder.
