PSC golf from The Fairways Golf Society
Tuesday, Sept. 13, Crystal Bay – Stableford
We arrived here today to find the course in excellent condition, and surprisingly so after all the rain we have had lately. We were even allowed to take golf carts on the fairways. The weather was overcast with a slight breeze so the conditions were ideal for golf, although you would not have thought so from the scores returned.
Tony Duthie took the honours once again but with a mediocre 34 points from a smaller field than usual. He also had a near pin as did Scott Dobbins.
1st Tony Duthie (21) 34pts
2nd Jon Lay (7) 33pts
3rd Scott Dobbins (0) 32pts
Thursday, Sept. 15, Greenwood – Stableford
Although the course was very wet it was still a pleasure to play. We decided to play winter rules and this decision turned out correct as there was absolutely no run on the fairways and your ball was invariably covered in mud.
Two-timer Tony Duthie.
Only one person managed to play to his handicap today, taking the honours for the second time this week. Yeah, you’ve guest it, that man again (Steady Eddie) Tony Duthie with 36 points. Today he was chased home by Mat Hanson, a newcomer to our society, and the lovely Ning Neal who just lost out for second place to Mat on a back nine count back 18-15. Mat also had two near the pins.
Back at the club house after the presentation they was a warm round of applause for Tony, but not for his recent achievements and good form. It was because he announced that he had to return to the U.K. for a short while and this would allow someone else to win for a change!
1st Tony Duthie (21) 36pts
2nd Mat Hanson (11) 35pts
3rd Nig Neal (15) 35pts
4th Richard Hurley (8) 34pts
