Back at the Ranch, The Donkey thought that he had carded the only ‘2’ of the day, but that changed with the arrival to the presentation of Mr. Gerry Roche after a second look at the score cards the Donkey had to present Gerry with half the ‘2’s loot, much to the amusement of the lads.

Tuesday, May 28, Green Valley – Stableford

A Flight

1st Terry Mangan (14) 41pts

2nd JP Maffray (14) 40pts

3rd Yui Bietry (14) 38pts

B Flight

1st Colin Davis (18) 34pts

2nd John Heaney (19) 34pts

3rd Colm O’Donovan (19) 33pts

It was a tough day for the junior flight at Green Valley today, as the competitors could do no better than the Donkey’s 34 points.  Irishman John Heaney did match the Donkey’s output but, like so many before him, he failed in the resulting count back.  The calculator was needed again as Ireland’s Colm O’Donovan, Pierre ‘the comic’ Bietry and Lou ‘the pied piper of oz’ went to a three way count back the luck of the Irish prevailing.  Pierre and Lou were left at the bar telling each other jokes.

The guys who can actually play the game, the A Flighters, put two players on the podium that had 40 points or more.  Terry ‘pork chop’ Mangan brought home the bacon with a man of the match 41 points.  John Haney picked up the silver a point adrift as Yui Bietry took third a further two back.

JP Maffray (a brace), Peter Hynard, Alan Wilkinson, Thierry Petrement and Danny Senko shared the 2’s pot.

It was back to Burapha were once again the unlikely pairing of A & B were the task at hand.  Lou ‘the pied piper of Oz showed that girth wasn’t a requirement as playing off his old 17 handicap he used his supple power and innate talent to edge Freddy Star trek by five points.  The balance of the podium was filled by Danny Senko with a steady even par round.

In a contrast of fortunes, Brian ‘mini’ Copper saw a gap as he put a successful count back on Rod Brown to take the top place in B Flight as both had very useful 37 point hauls.  Jim ‘how’s the world treating you’ Ried edged a resurgent Esara Duangsri on a count back to fill the flight, both locked on 34 points.

Lou Zig Zag and Danny Senko split the 2’s pot.
