One of the better value courses was on offer for our first outing of the week.  The best score of the day belonged to Murray Edwards whose card was good enough by three to take the top step of a reduced podium.

In second place was Shuichi Kodaka who managed to slip in four zero-pointers in a round that promised far more after the opening seven holes when he was just one over handicap.  Trevor Schirmer added to his pleasure in returning by closing out third place although at the post event press call he was disappointed that he could not keep up with his start when he had parred the no. 1 hole.

There were no 2s in either of the divisions.

Wednesday, August 9, Bangpra – Stableford

CSS NC

1st Darryl Burkett (12) 29pts

2nd Shuichi Kodaka (18) 27pts

3rd Hal Hart (19) 23pts

As usual the course for the week’s second event was found to be in pristine condition although the greens were a particularly difficult test, especially if the ball was above the hole.

Darryl Burkett did just enough to take the win after starting well with 17 points from the opening half but a disastrous start to the back-nine left him scratching for the top step as Shuichi Kodaka closed in, taking nine points from the last four holes but he had left himself too much to do following a very slow start to the round.

Hal Hart more stumbled than marched into third place after he had returned a very patchwork quilt of a card that included six zeros, but although far from his best it was still good enough to leave the rest of the field trailing in his wake.

Once again there were no ‘2’s in either of the divisions.

CSS 72

1st Murray Edwards (20) 39pts

2nd Peter Skinner (10) 36pts

3rd Hal Hart (19) 31pts

4th Darryl Burkett (12) 30pts

5th Craig Thomas (14) 30pts

The biggest entry of the week turned out at the now popular regular Friday outing to Pattaya Country Club were the newly designed greens and bunkers are starting to be appreciated by the players.

Murray Edwards took his second win of the week with an excellent three-under handicap return that was the epitome of steadiness as it included just 2 one-pointers and no hint of a zero, and well deserved the top step for the day.

Peter Skinner returned with some good form in the bag and he took second place with a solid level handicap round.  Hal Hart’s form improved dramatically as he took his second placement in the week just ahead of a count back for fourth and fifth places, which Darryl Burkett won with a better 10 to 9 over the last six holes after he had halved the nine with fifth placed Craig Thomas.

There were no 2s in the second division, but Craig Thomas made sure of the first division pool by slotting in the putts on the 5th and 12th holes to clean out the multi rollover pot.
