Monday, June 18, Green Valley (White tees) – Stableford

1st Terry Johns (18) 44pts

2nd Ernie Hill (0) 40pts

3rd Max Scott (4) 35pts

Rayong Green Valley is coming back and all the recent works there have paid off.  The course is now once again in fine shape and will only get better through the summer.

And so to our weekly contest at our regular Monday venue.  The visitors took all three podium places today so locals, watch out.  It was TGC partner John Emmerson’s turn to heard cats so midway through the basketball we headed east on the 36 once again.

Terry Johns came in playing off 18 to shoot a great round with 44 points at this lovely golf course.  We haven’t had a score that high since Brad Gearie was here a couple of months back, so a well deserved win indeed.  Terry is now off 16, as the handicapping system allows for.

Shooting a 40 is a great score also, but even better when you are 4 under par off the stick, because as I recall, a scratch golfer gets no shots, oui?  Ernie Hill is a zero, which is quite a compliment in this particular instance.  Ern has been back in the States for the last couple of years but remembers Green Valley quite well, I believe we can assume by the scoring on the day.  Well played Ernie, this was just practice for a foray onto the Asian Tour events in the next few months, so good luck man!

Wednesday, June 20, Siam Plantation (White tees) – Stableford

1st Bob Watson (2) 36pts

2nd John Tunstall (4) 35pts

T3rd Mark Haffenden (0) 34pts

T3rd Brian Gavagan (5) 34pts

T3rd Gavin Wright (18) 34pts

A chance now to play like the pros with a summertime visit to Siam Plantation.  It is perfect, of course, although there were a few blades of grass out of place on the 12th, pity.  This is in the top 3 courses of the 20 that we play on our rota, so it was always going to be a special day out.

The signup sheet of 5 tee times was full, even at the 2,350 Sports Day rate.  We were overbooked, so chiseled a couple of places from Dr, John who kindly carried the overflow with his slots that allowed all 25 golfers to get out and play.  After a TGC breakfast we set out for the grueling 20 minute drive with Diego leading the lads in our minibus.

The high rollers for the day had a great time and we arrived an hour early to take advantage of the magnificent practice facility there.

Bob Watson tamed this great course with 36 points, the only golfer on the day to play to his handicap.

John Tunstall came in one behind with 35 but there were a trio of golfers on 34 points.  The decision was made by Diego that Gavin, Mark and Brian should all have some of those “Handsome Man Vouchers” so that’s the way it went and no count back for today.

See our July golf schedule on our website and make note that we are playing Siam Old Course next month, so come out and join us for Plantation’s sister course on Tuesday the 24th.  Thanks go to Diego Wells for working the clipboard for today’s golf and join him on Sundays for P.S.C. softball at high noon!

Note:  The Kabinburi Road Trip is confirmed for 17 & 18 July, so sign up now!

The Golf Club is located on Soi LK Metro.  We play on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so come join us for a seriously fun day out.  Just call 085 434 3377 or see our website www.golfclubpattaya.com and for more information mail us: pattaya4golf@gmail .com and see updates at www. facebook.com/golfclubpattaya.
