Sunday, Nov. 12, Green Valley – Monthly Medal

2nd Peter LeNoury (15) net 69
3rd Jim Bell (19) net 71
B Flight
1st Nick Shaw (21) net 70

Twenty-seven golfers including some from Colin’s Golf Bar signed up to play our traditional Sunday bash at Green Valley. The course was in fine shape and the weather was extremely pleasant. Two flights were required with three places in each.
It was just like old times as former golf manager John Emmerson made a rare visit and stole the medal for November 2016 with a man of the match net 68. John received a bottle of Jameson’s Irish whiskey, a non-transferable invite to play in the year end gold medal and his name will be etched on the Lewiinski’s wall of shame.
The man on form, Peter ‘the right honorable’ LeNoury came up one stroke short to lift the flight silver while the bronze step on the podium was decided on a count back as two players were tied on net 71; Jimmy ‘AK-47’ Bell edging out big Kevin Hamilton with a more evenly distributed inner nine.
B Flight was the domain of Nick ‘Elvis’ Shaw with a solid net70 and the calculator was out again to separate Gerry ‘the Irish rover’ Roche and Jez ‘the principle’ Lees, both with a net 71 but Gerry got the nod for the silver.

A high season crowd headed north up Route 331 to Treasure Hill – one of the toughest courses on the Eastern Seaboard, as the day’s scores would indicate. The course was in good condition and the weather was fine.
Only one player beat his handicap as Laurie Dixon put on a master-class, lashing the course with a fantastic 41 points to take the top spot in C Flight and the man of the match honours. His card contained twenty points on the front nine and twenty one on the back that had two no scores. Laurie was seven strokes clear of flight mate Torden Lindgarrd, and a further stroke clear of Marcus Earp.
Liverpool’s Justin Fowlis took the top spot in A Flight with a sound even par round to go with his near pin. The minor flight places were filled by two of Aberdeen’s favourite lads, Sugar Robinson and Mark Wood on 33 and 32 points respectively.
Ireland’s Tip Briney stood atop the B Flight podium with a steady35 points and was five clear of Brendon Doyle who needed the aid of a count back to edged Terry Southworth 17-14.

2nd Gerry Cooney (20) 42pts
3rd Paddy Jordan (24) 39pts
We were greeted by great weather at Pattana and the course was in perfect condition. It seemed that there were more 40+’s today than you might find in an augmentation clinic. And of course it is the scribe’s job to keep you abreast of such observations. But enough of the quips or one senses that the scribe is only humoring himself.
There were three players who shared the man of the match honours. A Flight’s Kevin ‘the Co. Offaly gang leader’ McEntee with a great 42 points was followed up the podium steps by two of Scotland’s finest, Reg McKay with a solid 40 points and his good mate Sugar Robinson on 38.
Two players went to a count back in B Flight, Geoff Bracegirdle and Irishman Gerry Cooney both with 42 points when the mud had settled it was Geoff’s back nine that held out for the top spot, leaving Paddy Jordan to close the flight.
