Eastern Seaboard teams hit the sand to compete in the regional qualifying round for the Euro Cake Thailand beach volleyball tournament in Sattahip.
Rear Adm. Banjob Phodaeng, commander of the Coast Guard Fleet, opened the Sept. 8-15 tournament at Battle Squadron Beach in Sattahip.
Hosted by the navy and the Volleyball Association of Thailand, the tourney saw boys and girls up to 18 years old compete separately in four age brackets, with the top two winners in each category moving on to the national competition.
Banjob said beach volleyball is becoming more popular in Thailand and this particular beach has been a training ground for Thai national team athletes.
