PSC golf from Tropical Bert’s
Wednesday,January 4,Eastern Star – Stableford
Just another day in the life of the Pattaya golfer: Early in Bert’s, well 8 o’clock or so, some hot coffee and for some brekkers, then into cars and off we go to play golf. We have to do this day after day and people think we are enjoying ourselves.
So Eastern Star, a tough test for all the golfers and on this day we also had a packed course so we would be able to bimble around. As it happened after nine holes the group in front disappeared so we got around quickly, but not without having trouble with a tough layout.
Mashi Kaneta and Daryl Evans with Pu.
It was not too long ago that all the golf courses were flooded out and the ground soggy and wet, well now with the lack of rain most places are bone dry and Eastern Star is no different. The fairways were hard and the rough wiry and difficult and with the wind this made for a tough round. The greens seemed different, some fast and tricky and some slower, and of course the greens here have never been the best in the business.
Round over it was into the showers then a quick bite and into cars for the drive back to Pattaya. There we got to Tropical Bert’s as the players were finishing off their ‘golfers specials’ and were enjoying a cold one. It was soon time to declare the results and find out how tough the course had been.
In the A Flight, 0 to 19, the winner was Mashi Kaneta with 33 points on a count back over Walter Bachli in second. In third was John Hackett with 32 points ahead of Rob Brown in third with 31 points.
In The B Flight we had by far the best score of the day when Daryl Evans won with 40 points, a good round on a tough day. In second was Joel Flor with 34 points ahead of Tom Cotton in third with 32 points and in fourth was Kenny Chung with 31 points on count back over Roy Dayton and Rita Zoebelli.
It was then time to call an end to a long day and tell the story of how well we all didn’t play, except Daryl. T.T.F.N.
