Jomtien Golf with the IPGC
Monday, April 18, Khao Yai – Stableford
Our annual trip here to escape the bedlam of the Songkran festival in Jomtien and only a three and a half hour drive away. It was our fourth visit here for this time of the year and a popular change of scenery and golf for players and partners.
There were two divisions out for the three games during the week with the cut at 9-19 I the top division for all rounds.
Glyn Evans.
Khao Yai G.C. was just a short 25 minute drive from Pak Chong where we are all staying and we teed off 15 minutes ahead of schedule on an almost deserted course. This is a very interesting layout in good condition and with some stunning scenery throughout.
Bob Poole returned the best score of the day, winning division 1 with 40 points while Tim Hake took second after beating Don Head on a 21/17 back nine count back, both tied on 35 points each. Colin James just lost out in the count back also as Don beat him 13/12 on the back six.
Glyn Evans won division 2 with 36 points and Rod Howett beat Mark Armstrong for second place 12/11 on the back six after they both scored 34 points overall.
Near pins went to (Div 1) Tim Hake and Dennis Scougall (2), and (Div 2) Mark Armstrong and Bob Poole.
Chris Voller birdied the fourth to stake a claim for the ‘2’s but this was wiped out by Tim Hake’s hole in one on the 15th. Congratulations Tim, an I.P.G.C. hole in one bag will follow.

Friday, April 22, Panorama – Stableford
This was our final round of the week and yet another blisteringly hot day at around 40 degrees. Panorama was probably not one of our best selections as the course was suffering from a lack of water. Bonanza could have been an alternative, but you never know.
An amazing round of 38 points from Mikael Andersson saw him win division 1 ahead of Dennis Scougall in second on 32 and Tim Hake third with 29.
Mikael Andersson.
Two 32’s came in the second flight, with Glyn Evans beating Mark Armstrong 17/14 on the back nine and Magne Gunnarson took third with 31.

Magne Gunnarsson chipped out of the bunker on the 15th straight into the hole for the only ‘2’ in division 2 while in division 1 Mikael Andersson birdied the 2nd and 11th and Dennis Scougall the second as well.

A brilliant week was had by all and many thanks to Khun Nutty and staff at the Rimtarn Inn, Pak Chong for their help and assistance.
