Sunday was another Green Valley stableford bash.  The course was in fine condition especially the greens, as the good scores would indicate.

Winning the day was Billy ‘the hat’ Eyles with a fine 40 points.  Billy needed every one of them as four players were log-jammed behind him all with 39 points.  Emerging from the heap with the biggest smile was Jimmy ‘AK-47’ Bell while Barry ‘the boot’ Copestake followed Jim up the podium steps in third place.  Gareth Gill was placed fourth with Mike Beilby filling the fifth spot, which left Peter Terry to close the flight with 37 points.

Aussie star Franjo Blazevic was the sole heir to the 2’s pot.

Monday, Dec. 25, Silky Oakes – Stableford

Christmas day and the lads decided that they would play a fun game at Silky Oakes – a four-man stableford game with the two best scores on each hole counting.

Team Growlers, consisting of Barry Copestake, Mick Beresford, Bill Peach and Pat Regan won the day with 95 points, beating the famous four of Mark Watkins, Kyle Roadley, Nick Shaw and Howard Bland who scored 90.

Friday, Dec. 29,
The Emerald – Stableford

1st Tony Oakes (13) 36 pts

2nd Howard Bland (26) 36 pts

3rd Mick Beresford (14) 33 pts

Near Pins: No 5 Mick Beresford, No 15 Daryl Ottaway.

A relatively low turnout due no doubt to the Christmas festivities turned out to play the last game of the year at the Emerald.  The course was the winner today with no one managing to better their handicap, but two players did manage to play to theirs, Tony Oakes and Howard Bland.

As everyone knows, it is very hard to beat Tony in a count back as he took the top spot on the podium.  Golf manager Mick Beresford took the flight bronze with 33 points.

Howard Bland, Daryl Ottaway and Tony Oakes shared the2’s pot.
