Because of the high numbers we were again playing two comps, one at Green Valley and the other at Silky Oak. Although it was still very busy at least they had both caddies and carts for us today for both courses and we got off in time for reasonably fast rounds.
We had two flights at Green Valley with the cut coming in at twenty and here Andy Featherstone was again a winner in A flight with thirty seven points, despite having two blanks on his card.
Joe Peters was a runaway winner of the B flight with what was by far the best score of the day and he had forty points.
Sunday, Jan. 28, Silky Oak – Stableford
1st Ronan Simms (20) 35pts
2nd Dan Hobbs (23) 34pts
3rd Larry Eden (21) 34pts
4th Michael Williams (14) 33pts
The scoring wasn’t quite as good here at Silky Oak, with none of our group managing to play to their handicaps. The greens seemed a bit slow but otherwise the course was in excellent condition.
As the group here was smaller than the one in Green Valley we just had one flight with the winner being Ronan Simms with thirty five points. In second was Dan Hobbs with thirty four points and he beat Larry Eden on the count back.
We had no ‘2’s here today so the carryover goes on to here next Sunday.

We got a large group out here in Mountain Shadow and the course seemed to be well improved since the last time we played here. We had two flights and Francis McGuigan, who has just arrived back from Ireland and was playing his first game for this trip, came out the winner of the A flight with thirty four points. Michael Williams came second with thirty two points and Jack Featherston was third by way of a count-back over Joe McArdle.
Pauline Byrne had the best score of the day to win the B flight with thirty six points. We had two players with thirty three and here Joe Peters won the count-back to come second and John McGarry lost it to come third. Mick Seery was fourth with thirty two.
