We were here at Green Valley on what was an unusually windy day.  We again had two flights and even with the very strong winds we had some very good scores in both.

The best score of the day came from Ken Hole who won the B flight with an excellent forty-one points; the wind certainly didn’t affect his game!  Joe Peters took the second seven points back and Joe McArdle placed third with thirty-four.

Rod Torrie made it a very successful return for him as he won the A flight with thirty-nine points and to make it an even better pay day he also had a ‘2’.  Jerry Sweetnam took the second place with thirty six and Jerry also added to his money by getting a ‘2’.  Kevin O’Sullivan got the third place with thirty four points.

Tuesday, Nov. 7, Treasure Hill – Stableford

17 players made the trip to Treasure Hill and it had been quite a few months since we last played here.  The course was in excellent condition and with overcast skies it was a pleasant day for golf.

We decided on 2 flights today and in the ‘A’ division the clear winner was Andy Featherstone (H/cap 5) who was playing the course for the first time and shot a 1 over par gross round for 40 points.  In his first game back this trip Gerry Hannan(12) was second with 36 points and taking third place was Joe McArdle (16) with 34.

A first time winner in B division was Alec Smith (22) with 33 points and second came Russell Gilroy (18) with 31.  Joe Peters completed the podium in third with 29 points.

There were four ‘2’s, coming from Andy Featherstone, Gerry Hannan, Michael Shields & Bernie Stafford.

Thursday, Nov. 9, Greenwood – Stableford

Thursday we made the journey up to Greenwood, and played the C and A courses in that order.  While this is a very beautiful course we found that they had watered it far too much and it was playing more like 7,000 yards and too long.  Also the C course was so wet that it was very difficult to play shots even off the fairways.

For one of our group though it didn’t seem to be a problem as Glen Armitstead scored an excellent thirty-nine points to come out a very clear winner.  Jon Batty took second place on a count-back over Gerry Hannan as they both had thirty four points.  Pat Carty got the fourth place with thirty-one and Andy Featherstone with thirty.  We had no ‘2’s today.
