PSC Golf from the Ferdinand Golf Society
Monday, Dec. 29, Pattaya Country Club – Stableford
It was the biggest “gig” in town on this particular Monday, which was the first tournament for the Ferdinand Golf Society playing out of the Phantom Bar in Soi Buakhow. We had a fantastic field of 84 golfers participating in the event which had many lucrative rewards including prizes on every hole for A & B flights and a fabulous prize for a hole in one on the par three 7th hole, five prizes in each flight and the chance to qualify for a place in the Ferdinand Championship Tournament to be played at the end of 2015.
On the first Monday of each month, with the second qualifying tournament to be played on Monday, 2nd February 2015, there will be a similar event which will also include sponsorship on each hole and five place-getters in each of the 2 flights, plus the chance to qualify for a place in the Ferdinand Championship at the end of the year. In addition to this we will be playing on all the other Mondays and Thursdays each month.

Many thanks go to our hole sponsors which are the Ferdinand Bar, Phantom Bar, RR123 Remodel & Construction, Solens Autolakerer, Anna Coffee & Drink, DTA Transport, Beergarden Restaurant, Alby & Micky Pizza, Lewinski’s, Pizza Italiano, Hotel Dania, Beefeater Steakhouse Zanzi Bar & Bill Hewitt. Also thanks to Freddy Starbeck from the Ferdinand Bar and Christian Boysen from the Phantom Bar who assisted me with all the organizing and running of this event.
Registration went smoothly with the first golfers showing up at Pattaya Country Club around an hour early in readiness for our first tee time of 9.30 a.m. off the first & tenth tees. Thanks to Pattaya Country Club in providing the carts to enable us to place all the sponsor’s banners on each tee prior to playing and also thanks to Mark West and his guys for positioning the pin & fairway markers.
The players got away about ten minutes behind schedule but in perfect weather conditions and proceeded at a steady pace, and with some excellent scores and some not so good everyone seemed to have a very enjoyable day.
Presentations were at the Phantom Bar that evening with the delicious buffet supper provided by Colin Davis from Lewinski’s and the food was ready at around 7.15 p.m., which was right on schedule. The “joint was jumping” with the place packed and excellent live music entertained us all and of course everyone who played was provided with a Ferdinand Golf Society/Phantom Bar golf shirt with a choice of 3 colors and many sizes.

After the meal it was time for presentations and yours truly thanked everyone for playing and attending the evening before proceeding to announce the awards, starting with the many “novelty” prizes. The rule of the day was that winners had to be present on the evening to receive their awards and the awards that weren’t collected were carried forward to the next monthly Monday tournament on February 2. The Flight winners were then announced followed by the announcement of the five qualifiers for the Ferdinand Championship at the end of next year.
