Pattaya’s flying teenager Ben Fortt notched up another win in the Thailand SB-2 Superbike Championship last weekend. The sixth round was held Sunday, September 9 at the Nakon Chaise circuit just north of Bangkok, and drew entries from all over Thailand.
Ben, on his Honda CBR 1000cc, qualified in third position on the grid with two very experienced and race ready riders placed in front of him. From the off Fortt managed to advance into second position just on the heels of the Kawasaki ZX1000 in front of him, but also with the Suzuki GSXR 1000 on his back wheel and pushing him all the way.

With great determination on lap six of the ten, Ben out-braked the race leader in a clever and calculated passing maneuver on his inside to hit the front for the first time. The next two laps however he was under relentless pressure from the Kawasaki rider but managed to counter every move and eventually pulled clear to take the victory.
After the race Ben said that he was always confident he had the race pace to secure victory.
“I didn’t want to take him too early, I calculated to pressure him into a mistake which paid off and it was too much for him to get back at me,” said a delighted winner.
This was Fortt’s third win of the season, and together with third and fourth place finishes in earlier rounds it puts him firmly ahead in the championship with just four rounds left.
