Sunday, March 6, Silky Oak – Stableford

1st Colin Davis (21) 39pts

2nd Ole Madsen (19) 38pts

Just a small group today as some of the lads elected to play at Green Valley, but no problem as it all made for a quicker round.  The weather was still very hot and the course was in normal condition with the greens slow and a little bumpy.

We sent the Danish 3-ball out first and the king of the Vikings was Ole Madsen with 38 points while Sven Hommel just got the better of Mogen’s Melander.

Bangpakong Riverside – one of the finest courses in the area.

In the second group it was a hard work on the front nine but on the back nine Colin ‘the Donkey’ Davis found a few carrots and romped into the lead with 39 points, including a blob on the last.

There were no ‘2’s today and very few ‘3’s.

Wednesday, March 9, Bangpakong Riverside – Stableford

1st Andre Fortis (17) 37pts

2nd Colin Davis (21) 35pts

A quick trip up route 7, about one hour, and you’re at the beautiful Bangpakong Riverside Golf Course.  This course is in perfect condition, the golf shop staff and all the caddies are very good and friendly and the locker rooms equal any in Thailand.  It is difficult to find anything wrong with the whole set up, our own golf was another matter!

We welcomed back Andre Fortis who at the age of 77 showed he is still a force to be reckoned with off the yellow tees as he shot a flawless 37 points to take the top podium spot from the Donkey who was 2 shots back.  Bob Gilespie took third place, making it a clean sweep for the ‘Golden Oldies’.

Friday, March 11, Crystal Bay – Stableford

A Flight

1st Craig Simson (12) 37pts

2nd Andre Fortis (17) 37pts

B Flight

1st Peter Terry (21) 38pts

2nd Mick Coghlan (21) 37pts

2’s: Peter Jorgeson

A very early tee time today, 9.37 am, and with a lot of schools closed for the annual holiday we got to the course well ahead of time and were surprised when the starter said we could go early.  Our first group went off and soon caught up with a very slow 4-ball but luckily they were on their back nine.

Craig Simson was hitting the ball off the tee like a pro, landing just short of the greens, but then his short game let him down a bit.  The Donkey was plodding on as he does, with Asger Levin still trying to get back to his old swing.  The fourth member of the group, Peter Jorgeson, was very steady and had the only ‘2’ of the day.

The next group consisted of Tony Fax, Mick Coghlan, Barry Oats & Ray Trimble and of this group only Mick Coghlan was able to shine.

Andre Fortis, Odd Holm Hanson, Gordon Wallace & Peter Kelly made up the third group, with Andre & Odd both returning 37 points each, Gordon 34 and Peter’s good run faltering with just 30.

The last group of Peter Hynard, Peter Terry, Nick Shaw & Martin Allard demonstrated some feast or famine, with Peter Terry top scoring for the day with 38 points but the other 3 only averaging around 30.
