April 18 was a pre-season Pirelli academy track day with a full race the following day. Young local racer Ben Fortt attended the event with his fully prepared Honda CBR 1000RR Fireblade, running for the SRRUN Racing team and sponsored by local businesses CEA and Sensations A-Go-Go on Walking Street.
Ben had a reasonable start in the race and sat in third position for a couple of laps. He then made his move and picked off the Kawasaki zx10 and Ducati Panigale in front to take the lead and hold off any challenges to win by 3 seconds. This delighted his following of supporters who came along to cheer for the local rider.
Ben remarked afterwards that he was very pleased with his victory and was more especially happy with the bike’s performance, remarking that he was getting plenty of power on the straits which helped him overcome his rivals. “I am hoping that this will be a good start to the season and give me confidence to challenge for the 2015 Pro Superbike Championship, which starts in June at the Buriram International circuit,” said Ben. He also thanked his team for preparing the bike in such good race spec and thanked his sponsors for their loyal support.
