PSC Golf from The Golf Club

Monday, Feb. 16, Green Valley (white tees) – Stableford

1st Fred Graham (20) 40pts

T2nd Gary Blackburn (15) 39pts

T2nd Ed Brubaker (15) 39pts

T4th Muffy Kerr (13) 38pts

T4th Ken Aihara (4) 38pts

Every Monday we play our only regular venue of Green Valley just as we have been doing for the last 7 years and 8 months.  The reason being is that the quality of the course, the layout, and the local members all make for a great day out.  Today we had a full signup sheet of 36 golfers and had to turn away several more, so please sign up early in the high season to avoid disappointment.

There were some of the usual suspects on the leaderboard today as well as a few familiar faces for Phil to give Christmas cards to.  Kenny was at the bottom of the totem pole for once, but a fine 38 is nothing to be ashamed of.

It was good to see Messrs Brubaker and Blackburn back in the fold and both at 39 Stableford points as well.  The magic 40 was breached by only one golfer this week and December’s Monthly Medal winner Fred Graham found his form to claim victory off a well shot 18 holes at R.G.V., nice goin’ mate!

Wednesday, Feb. 18, Pattavia (white tees) – Stableford

1st Kenny Aihara (4) 38pts

T2nd Paul Butler (16) 35pts

T2nd Masa Jojo (10) 35pts

This golf course just gets more popular as time goes by and even though it was said to be a bit dry, ya gotta love this track.

Kenny Aihara is now cut down to a 4 handicap!  That did not seem to matter much as he still ended up with a win on the week and his 38-pointer was the best in show.  Nice going Kenny, another notch on the belt!

Friday, Feb. 20, Mt. Shadow (white tees) – Stableford

1st Masa Jojo (10) 35pts

T2nd Kenny Aihara (4) 34pts

T2nd Jim Carlson (20) 34pts

This is probably the best value golf course for the high season.  Mountain Shadow received tons of praise today in the après-golf bar banter.  The greens were more forgiving than usual, which translates to “less treacherous” on those downhill putts.  All in all it was in very good condition and speed of play was just over 4 hours.  With a 750 baht green fee, this course is hard to beat.

Masa Jojo was joining us today from Japan, so it was a 1st and 2nd place finish for the Land of the Rising Sun as Kenny Aihara took joint second with Jim Carlson.

Thanks to all who joined us here at The Golf Club for another great week of golf.
