Jomtien Golf with the IPGC

Wednesday, May 31, Pattaya C.C. – Stableford

After horrendous rain over the weekend here in Jomtien and also at Frasers on Monday morning there were many cancellations but there were still five groups out with the cut set at 9-17 and 18+.  It was an enjoyable round today but the majority of players thought a slight improvement on the maintenance here would make it a very good test of golf.

Neil Gamble returned the best score of the day, winning division 1 with 38 points while John Hughes was second after beating Paul Butler on a 19/17 back-nine count back, both with 35 points overall.

Mick Werner topped division 2 with 36 points, with the Welsh boy Curtis Hessler second one point behind and Alan Bissell taking third on 34.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Neil Gamble, Tim Hake and Midge Looker (2), and (Div 2) Alan Bissell, Andy Crabb, John Hughes and Mick Werner.

Tim Hake was a happy chappy after he birdied the 12th to win the rollover ‘2’s pot in division 1 while John Hughes also birdieds the 12th in division 2.

Friday, June 2, Eastern Star – Stableford

The numbers are diminishing now on Fridays and there were only six groups out today with the equal cut at 8-17 and 18+.  We were lucky with the weather with just a few spots of rain on the second and that was it.

Colin Aspinall won division 1 honours with 36 points while Tim Hake was second one point behind and Paul Butler took third with 34.

An amazingly low score of 29 points gave organizer Glyn Evans first place in division 2, with Guy Russell second one point behind and Mick Werner finishing third with 27.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Brian Green, Tim Hake, Pete Sumner and Jerry Sweetnam, and (Div 2) Juergen Heinzius, Colin James and Joe Peters.

There were no ‘2’s today in either division so a rollover in division 1 to next Friday and four in division 2.
