Monday, June 6, Plutaluang – Stableford

We were due to play the East and South nines today as we alternate each time we are here but the East nine is under total renovation so we were playing the North and West courses instead.

We played off our normal white tees and with a 12 handicap Jerry Sweetnam scored 21 on the North and 19 on the West to win division 1 with a solid 40-point total.  In his last game with us before his return to the UK, Pete Sumner took second place with 37 points and Chris Voller was third with just 27.

Bruce Gardner was the winner in division 2 with 35 points while the Welsh boy Curtis Hessler was second one point behind, and Colin Aspinall took third on 29 points.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Jerry Sweetnam and Pete Sumner (2), and (Div 2) Bruce Gardner and Bob Poole.

There were no ‘2’s in either division today so rollovers to Greenwood on Wednesday.

Wednesday, June 8, Greenwood – Stableford

There were three other groups arriving at Greenwood at the same time as ourselves but we still teed off on schedule and we were playing the A and B courses with only one division.  The course was in condition with some very tricky pin placements.

Driving like a single handicapper, Bruce Gardner, playing off 18, won the day’s competition with 35 points, two ahead of Ger Lodge in second on 33 and the South African boy Jerry Sweetnam was third with 31.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Jerry Sweetnam and (Div 2) Ger Lodge (2).

Once again there were no ‘2’s in either division so all to play for at Rayong C.C. on Monday.

Friday, June 10, Eastern Star – Stableford

Back to two divisions here with the equal cut set at 7-16 and 17+ and the best score returned today was Paul Hartley’s 34 points to win division 2.  Bruce Gardner was second on 33 points and Darryl Blair came third with 31.

Chris Voller topped division 1 standings with 33 points while Jerry Sweetnam was second on 31 and Bill Bertram third with 29.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Arthur Hancock, Dave Horne, Jerry Sweetnam and Chris Voller, and (Div 2) Bruce Gardner, Paul Hartley and Tony Thorne (2).

There were many moans after the round regarding the wicked pin placing on the signature 13th hole but Paul Butler birdied it for the only ‘2’ in division 1 while Paul Hartley on the 17th and Tony Thorne on the 6th split the pot in division 2.
