Wednesday, April 29, Pattavia – Stableford
On a very hot day we had two divisions again and an almost identical cut to Monday’s field.
Playing off a handicap of 20, Bruce Gardner scored 22 points on the front nine repeated the feat on the inward half to come home with 44 points and victory in division 2. John Walsh was in contention with 23 points on the front nine but he slipped away with only 13 on the back to finish on 36 and take second place. Colin James completed the podium in third with 35.
(L-R) Bruce Gardner, Iain Walsh and Rod Howett.
Pete Sumner, in his first game back since his return, topped division 1 standings with 37 points, one point up on Simon Tilbrook in second while Tim Hake took third after beating Terry Madsen 20/17 on count back, with both locked on 35 points.

Chris Voller birdied the 4th for the only ‘2’ in division 1 while a double rollover ensued to Bangpra on Monday in division 2.
Friday, May 1, Eastern Star – 1-2-3 Stableford
We held our normal stableford game here for two divisions plus a team 1-2-3 extra competition courtesy of the rollover kitty.
After a bad knee for the past two weeks and no game time, Rod Howett came in with his best score for many months, 41 points, but still lost out to Iain Walsh on a 20/18 back-nine count back for the top honours in division 2. Bruce Gardner, being cut manually overnight two shots, was third with 37 points.
In division 1 there were two 40 point scores fighting for 1st place; Chris Voller taking the highest podium position after beating Tim Hake 17/16 on the back six holes. Ian Speirs came in third four points behind.
In the 1-2-3 competition today we were all surprised at the winning scores coming in; Tim Hake, Colin James and Bob Poole won the event with 79 points, beating Glyn Evans, Paul Hartley and Rod Howett on a 52/47 back-nine count back. In third place came Karl Flood, Lars Svensson and Tony Thorne on 78 and in fourth was the trio of Colin Aspinall, Bruce Gardner and Ian Speirs with 77.
Near pins went to (Div 1) Arthur Hancok, Wilf Latham and Chris Voller, and (Div 2) Paul Butler and Joe Kubon.
Wilf Latham birdied the 6th and Chris Voller the 13th and 17th to split the ‘2’s pot in division 1 and Bruce Gardner birdied the 3rd to get the only one in division 2.
It was a very hot day similar to Wednesday here but a very threatening dark cloud cover moved in after nine holes and hovered for around an hour and cooled it down for us all. Fortunately we had no rain but there was some thunder and lightning in the distance.
