The Pattaya Golf Society at Rabbi’s Elephant Bar
The Pattaya Golf Society visited Green Valley on Monday, 9th September, to play a stableford competition on the course which was richly prepared but soft after recent rains and a heavy sky promised more of the same before the round was completed.
So it was after about six holes the heavens opened and the already slowish greens became slower. However the day brightened and scores improved with Masashi Iizumi joining Kevin Cumming on 34 points for a share of second place. The winner, making it two in a row, was Greg Gawron with 36 points.
There were no birdie ‘2’s and the Booby Bevy went to Bryan Barrell after his blistering front nine of twenty points hit the buffers and ended up as a mediocre 28 points.
It had been a good start to the week and good golf comradeship continues with the Pattaya Golf Society.
It’s that man again…
Wednesday, 11th September saw the Pattaya Golf Society visit Bangpra to play a stableford competition on a course which was in good condition, if a little soft, and with very quick greens. Always a pleasure to play, on this occasion the course was virtually empty for the first hour or so, except for the local wildlife and excellent progress was made.
Scores were moderate and Wichai Tananusorn returned 32 for third place with the day’s best gross of 83. In second was stalwart Ken Grimes with 33 points, augmented by the day’s only birdie ‘2’, on the eighth. The winner, again, was Greg Gawron, this time posting 37 points.
Rabbi’s non-winners beer went to Bryan Brown and the Booby Bevy went to Mr Len – as he was sorting out his bag at the exit from the locker room a new ProV1 fell from his glove and rolled tantalizingly down the hill and along the footbridge before eventually ricocheting off a post into the water. It had not even been struck in anger. Yes, one of those days again at Bangpra!
