IPGC Golf from the Tara Court Golf Group

Sunday, June 14, Green Valley – Stableford

We were back on the right-hand tee box today, which is a very daunting first shot over the water, but it didn’t stop most of our group having some very good scores on what was a very nice day for golf, cloudy and not too hot.

We had a new member with us today and he got off to a very good start, scoring forty one points and winning by a three point margin.  Ger Lodge also had an excellent round and came second with thirty eight and Paul Pavloff also beat his handicap and came third with thirty seven.

Joe McArdle played to his handicap to come in fourth, Norman Cheetham took fifth with thirty five and Dan Hobbs claimed the last podium spot with thirty four.

Craig Robson.

Alec Hoare also had thirty four but was kept out of the prizes on a count back, but Alec had the compensation of having the only ‘2’ of the day and got as much as the winner!

1st Craig Robson (17) 41pts

2nd Ger Lodge (20) 38pts

3rd Paul Pavloff (7) 37pts

4th Joe McArdle (12) 36pts

5th Norman Cheetham (16) 35pts

6th Dan Hobbs (27) 34pts

Thursday, June 18, Burapha – Stableford

This week we did not have our usual Tuesday game as we joined up with our friends in a new IPGC group, the Pratumnak Friendly Golf Society in Green Valley.  Today we had our usual Thursday game here at Burapha and although we had a large group they all opted to play off the long blue tees.  On the day it was playing even longer than usual as it had rained very hard the previous night and the fairways were wet and consequently there was no run on the ball.

It looked for a long time like a very low score was going to win until the sixth group came in and Ger Lodge returned with thirty seven points.  Ger had only thirteen points on the front nine and then, despite having a blank on the fourteenth, he had an unbelievable twenty four on the back-nine including two 2’s. Great stuff!  Ger was playing his last game with us for this trip and he certainly went out in style.

Ger Lodge

Pat Carty also had a very score considering the conditions and came second with thirty six points.  It had looked for a long time in the clubhouse like Declan Kelly was going to win with thirty two points but in the end he came third, beating Norman Cheetham into fourth on a count back.

After that we actually had six players on thirty one points but only two of them made it into the prizes, with Vegard Paulson, Walter Panichi, Derek Kane and Tony Campbell all losing out on the count back to Francis McGuigan (fifth) and Jon Batty (sixth).

Eamon Murtagh, Declan Kelly and Ger Lodge shared the ‘2’s, with Ger getting two of them.

1st Ger Lodge (20) 37pts

2nd Pat Carty (26) 36pts

3rd Declan Kelly (12) 32pts

4th Norman Cheetham (16) 32pts

5th Francis McGuigan (14) 31pts

6th Jon Batty (8) 31pts
