IPGC Golf from The Tara Court Golf Group
Sunday, May 24, Green Valley – Stableford
Russell Gilroy carried on with his good golf, even after losing a shot on his handicap, and he had what was the best score any us have had in a very long time here in Green Valley. Russell scored an excellent 42 points for an easy win and Ricky Hurley, having won the previous week, had to settle for second with 37. Francis McGuigan, who has just arrived in Pattaya, came third a further point back, beating Joe Peters on a count back.
We had three ‘2’s, coming from Joe Peters, Russell Gilroy and Jimmy Kent.
1st Russell Gilroy (17) 42pts
2nd Ricky Hurley (7) 37pts
3rd Francis McGuigan (14) 36pts
4th Joe Peters (22) 36pts
Tuesday, May 26, Mt. Shadow – Stableford
We were back at Mountain Shadow today after a bit of a break coming here. This course always seems to be very quiet in the mornings and we got a clear round today. We decided to play of the blue tees and the scoring wasn’t great.
Russell Gilroy & Joe McArdle.
Joe McArdle, who is having a good run at the moment, was the only player to play to his handicap and was a clear winner with 36 points. Joe was looking like he was going to burn it up having had 22 on the front nine and was very steady up to the thirteenth and then let it slip with a few blanks and had only 14 on the back.
Ted Morris came second, six shots behind Joe, and beat Francis McGuigan on a count back. Tony Aston was fourth with 28.
We had no ‘2’s today.
1st Joe McArdle (13) 36pts
2nd Ted Morris (13) 30pts
3rd Francis McGuigan (14) 30pts
4th Tony Aston (28) 28pts
Thursday, May 28, Burapha – Stableford
Friday at Burapha we played the C and D courses, which was a nice change from the A and B that we have been playing for the past few months. Again we all went off the long blue tees and although this was our first time to play these nines this year, some of our group quickly came to grips with them and we had some very good scores.
Russell Gilroy has been playing very good golf for the past few weeks and despite having his handicap cut he carried on again today and won with an excellent 38 points on what is a long and difficult course. Tony Campbell also had a 38 but was beaten into second place on the count back. John Fenwick was the only other golfer to play to his handicap and he came third with 36.
Paul Pavloff was having a great round and was one under par gross after eight holes but he let it slip a bit after that and finished fourth with 33 points.
Once again today there were no ‘2’s recorded.
1st Russell Gilroy (17) 38pts
2nd Tony Campbell (10) 38pts
3rd John Fenwick (21) 36pts
4th Paul Pavloff (6) 33pts
