It is hard to believe that on Christmas Eve we were still enjoying millionaire’s golf here on a Sunday at Green Valley on a virtually empty course.  On what was a lovely day for golf we got teeing off twenty minutes early and for the first twelve holes we never saw anyone but ourselves on the course.

We had two flights with the cut coming in at fourteen and in the A flight Michael Healy was the winner on a count back with thirty six points.  Craig Hitchens had twenty three points on the front nine and looked like he was going to walk it, but then the wheels fell off his wagon and he had to settle for second.  In third place was Sean McNamara with thirty three points.  Actually Sean was the real winner today as we had our biggest ever rollover in the ‘2’s as and Sean took the lot.

In the B flight Joe McArdle had his first win for a long time with thirty six points, one point ahead of Joe Peters in second, while Russell Gilroy and Denis Lea completed the podium.

We were back at beautiful Leam Chabang for our annual Christmas visit.  The course was in immaculate condition with both greens and fairways just perfect.

We had two flights with the cut coming in at fourteen and in the B flight Russell Gilroy had by far the best score of the day to win with thirty nine points.  Jerry McCarthy came in a distant second with thirty four and Pat Carty and Gerry Cooke took third and fourth respectively.

The scoring from the low handicappers in the A flight was even worse and here we had three players with thirty two points.  Phelim Moran won the count back to claim the first place, Andy Featherstone came second and Michael Healy placed third. We then had two players with thirty one and here Kevin O’Sullivan won the count back to take the fourth and last place and Nick Looby lost out.

Thursday, Dec. 28, Eastern Star – Stableford

1st Nick Looby (12) 36pts

2nd Joe Peters (24) 34pts

3rd Jerry Sweetnam (10) 33pts

4th Ken Hole (18) 30pts

5th Michael Healy (14) 30pts

We had a smaller group than usual out here in Eastern Star today so only one flight on another beautiful day for golf.  Although they were sanding the greens the course was still in very good condition so there was no excuse for bad golf.

Despite this we had only one player who played to his handicap and this was Nick Looby who was a very clear winner with thirty six points.  In second place was Joe Peters with thirty four and taking third was Jerry Sweetnam with thirty three.  Jerry actually walked away with the most money today as he had the only ‘2’.  Ken Hole won the fourth place on a count back over Michael Healy, both with thirty points.
