Monday, March 31, Eastern Star – Stableford

It was a fast round of golf today at Eastern Star today taking just three hours forty minutes.  Eastern Star is in good condition but is starting to dry out on the fairways and the greens on this day were inconsistent with some being fast and some dreadfully slow.

As we only had a small field today there were only two places on the podium with second going to Lloyd Shuttleworth on 35 points, and taking top spot was Bob Philp with 39, getting 24 of them on the back nine.

Orn and Eng with Pip, Paul, Peter, Greig, Bob and Barry.Orn and Eng with Pip, Paul, Peter, Greig, Bob and Barry.

There were two 2s today, one from Lloyd Shuttleworth and the other from our resident ‘2’s specialist Wayne Cotterell.

Wednesday, April 2, Green Valley – Stableford

With eleven groups playing today including our friends from Royal Fremantle, we got off to an early start and were finished in just over four hours.  The greens were as good as any in this area, terrific to say the least and although some of the fairways were a little patchy, overall there could be no complaints.

The ladies swept all before them today as Jittina Tinpranee took first place with a great 41 points and Eng Duangwaw alias Eng Cotterell came in third with 38.  The thorn between the roses came in the form of Peter LeNoury who place second on 39.  The minor places were filled by Greig Ritchie in fourth, Barry Copestake fifth, Paul Greenaway sixth and Bob Newell seventh, all finishing on 37 points and separated by count back.

There were also four ‘2’s recorded today, coming from JJ Harney, Pip Mangano, Peter LeNoury and Barry Copestake.

Friday, April 4, The Emerald – Stableford

On Friday we travelled to the Emerald for the first time in many months and apart from the GUR along some of the fairways the course was in great condition.  The undulating layout here doesn’t take any prisoners if you happen to be off your game and today was no exception, with the scores being just average and no more.

Count backs were required to separate all top four positions today with Wayne Cotterell taking first place ahead of Doug Douglas in second, both on 35 points, and the new Mrs Cotterell edging Peter LeNoury out of third place with both locked together on 34.  Peter got some consolation at he slotted in the only ‘2’ of the day.

Note:  The Billabong is situated just off Siam Country Club Road looking straight down Lake Mabprachan.  Give Bob a call on 082 204 3411 if you are looking for a game.
