Sunday, Feb. 22, St. Andrews – Stableford

Another cheap round of golf today at St. Andrews as Green Valley had a very large group out and the management moved us over, which made it very good value for money.  As the course was quiet we got around quickly, especially on the front nine but then we caught up with the groups in front and it slowed down a bit.

This is a difficult course and the scoring wasn’t very good, with only one player beating his handicap.  This was Shaun Merriman who won the A Flight with thirty seven points.  William Bishop was second three behind and he beat Terry Kelly into third on a count back.

Andy Galvin.Andy Galvin.

In B Flight, Andy Galvin won with thirty three points, two up on Joe Peters in second with Gilbert Brosnan taking third on thirty.

There was a very large pot for the ‘2’s today as we has a carryover from the previous two Sundays and Terry Kelly and John Beshop shared it with one each for a very good payday.

Tuesday, Feb. 24, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

We visited Mountain Shadow on Wednesday and again the scoring was not great on this difficult course, with Frank McGowan winning on thirty three points, beating Don Byrne in to second place on a count back.  Joe McArdle was third with thirty one and he also beat William Bishop on a count back.

We had no ‘2’s.

Thursday, Feb. 26, Bangpra – Stableford

Today we were back in Bangpra after a long absence and found the course quiet and in excellent condition.  We almost had the course to ourselves and so got around quickly, with the first group getting back to the clubhouse in just over three and a half hours, brilliant!

Joe Cuddy was playing his last game with us for this year and he finished as he started by winning the comp with thirty seven points, which is an excellent score on this course.  Joe also won his first game with us a few months ago when he came out for his holiday.  A good way to finish!

Frank McGowan had to settle for second today with thirty one points and Gilbert Brosnan, who was also playing his last game for this year, came third with thirty points as for the second time this week William Bishop was beaten into fourth on a count back.

To make an even better end to their holiday, Joe Cuddy and Gilbert Brosnan shared the ‘2’s pot today.
