Sunday, March 30, Green Valley – Stableford

1st Vincent Gras (16) 37pts

2nd Charlie Lapsley (8) 35pts

3rd Alec Hoare (19) 34pts

This was our last visit to Green Valley on the old layout before it was reconfigured last week.  Hopefully the new layout will speed up the play a bit but I doubt it.

Our winner today was Vincent Gras with a fine thirty seven points, followed in 2 points back by Charlie Lapsley who was playing his last game for this trip.  Alec Hoare took third place on count back over Declan Kelly after both returned 34s on their cards.

We had two 2’s today but one of them was a bit special.  Frank McGowan decided that getting one on a par three wasn’t enough of a challenge so he holed his second shot on a par four instead.  Charlie Lapsley slotted the other more regular ‘2’.

Tuesday, April 1, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

1st Vincent Hogan (14) 37pts

2nd Frank McGowan (17) 34pts

3rd Vincent Gras (16) 31pts

An extremely hot day today in Mountain Shadow and the heat must have got to our players as the scores weren’t very good.  The course was very quiet and at least we got around fast, under four hours which is very good.  As usual the course was in good condition with the greens fast.

David Hogan was the only player to beat his handicap and won with thirty seven points, three ahead of Frank McGowan in second and Vincent Gras had to settle for third with thirty one.

We had no two’s today.

Thursday, April 3, Burapha – Stableford

1st Joe McArdle (12) 37pts

2nd Jon Batty (10) 31pts

3rd Vincent Gras (16) 30pts

Back at Burapha on Thursday for the first of the Sport Days which offers excellent value for money at this beautiful course in very good condition.  It is also a long course off the blue tees and with many of the tees back on the black markers and with very fast greens it provided an excellent challenge of golf today.  We will be making Burapha a regular fixture now while the Sport Days last.

Joe McArdle was the winner today with an excellent thirty seven points and he won by six points over second placed Jon Batty.  Making his third visit to the podium this week, was Vincent Gras who completed the day’s prize winners.

Joe McArdle and Vincent Gras recorded the only ‘2’s of the day.
