Sunday, August 21, Green Valley – Stableford
1st Fred Birch (20) 37pts
2nd Colin Hopkins (11) 36pts
3rd JP Maffray (14) 36pts
2’s: Greg Bates (2), JP Maffray
Just 3 groups today for Green Valley and six of the players from Australia; welcome for the first time to Dave Pacey and Brad Gearie who joined some of our regular Aussies.
Fred Birch had 2 points on every hole on the front nine and kept it up on the back to finish with 37 and take the win. One point back in second place was Colin Hopkins who edged a count back over JP Maffray.
Monday, August 22, Greenwood A & C – Stableford
1st Mogens Jensen (41) 39pts
2nd Tip Briney (22) 38pts
3rd Torben Lindgaard (30) 37pts
14 players for today at Greenwood and the course in fine condition plus great value at 1050 baht for green fee, caddy fee and cart.
With no-one in front we shot off at a great pace and did not catch up with anyone until the 9th hole, and this turned out to be their 18th hole and the back nine was just as quick so we were finished in less than 3ฝ hrs.
Mogens Jensen was the star today as he topped the podium with 39 points. Tip Briney also had an excellent day and 38 points was good enough for second place, just one ahead of Torben Lindgaard in third.
Wednesday, August 24, Bangpra – Stableford
A Flight
1st Jim Brackett (8) 35pts
2nd Christen Boysen (8) 35pts
B Flight
1st Neil Smith (34) 35pts
2nd Torben Lindgaard (29) 34pts
Near Pins: Bill Broschart & Colin Davis
Long Putts: Stan Smith (2)
This was our first time back at Bangpra for almost 3 months due to the dry weather. Today the course was looking lush but the water holes are still very dry, we will need a lot of rain in the next 2 months to fill them up again.
Jim Brackett and Christen Boysen, both playing off and 8 handicap, tied at the top of the leaderboard in A Flight with 35 points each, Jim just edging the count back with a batter inward nine.
Neil Smith also returned with 35 points on his card to top the B flight ahead of Torben Lindgaard in second place. Torben, who had 21 points in the front nine, elected to walk today and may have regretted that decision as his score plummeted on the back nine.
Friday, August 26, Pleasant Valley – Stableford
1st Greg Kath (23) 40pts
2nd Stan Smith (31) 37pts
Near Pins: Neil Smith & Mogens Melander
Long Putt: Neil Smith
Just 10 players for Pleasant Valley and after the previous night’s rain the course was completely soaked, with carts on paths only and our ‘lift, clean & cheat’ ruling being employed.
Two newcomers from Australia, Greg Kath & Stan Smith, stole the show today as the duo of Queensland train drivers steamed in to fill the top two places on the podium; Greg shooting a superb 40 points and Stan rolling in with 37.
