IPGC Golf from The Tara Court Golf Group

Sunday, Sept. 18, Green Valley – Stableford

We were lucky here today at Green Valley as we got finished just before the rain came, although our last group did get a bit damp on the final hole.

Not great scoring today with none of our players managing to play to their handicaps.  Joe McArdle had his first win in a long time and came out on top with thirty five points.  John Dearden took second place with thirty two, beating Donal McGuigan on a count back.  We then had two players on thirty one points with Russell Gilroy winning the count back over Frank StocKton to take the fourth place.

Geoff Brainbridge got the only ‘2’ of the day.

1st Joe McArdle (14) 35pts

2nd John Dearden (20) 32pts

3rd Donal McGuigan (18) 32pts

4th Russell Gilroy (17) 31pts

Tuesday, Sept. 20, Khao Kheow – Stableford

We decided to play off the white tees today as the course was very wet and was playing long.  Although it had rained hard that morning and some of our caddies were expecting us to cancel our visit, we actually got around dry and it was quite a pleasant day for golf.

Maybe it was because the course was so wet but the scores weren’t great, especially from the white tees.  The best we had was thirty three points and we had three players with this score.  Gus Guidetti has been playing great golf on this trip both with ourselves and The Haven and he again came out on top today on the count back.  I think this was his fifth win in a row, very consistent golf.  In second place on the count back was Joe McArdle and another consistent golfer, Russell Gilroy took the third and last place.

We had no ‘2’s today.

1st Gus Guidetti (12) 33pts

2nd Joe McArdle (14) 33pts

3rd Russell Gilroy (17) 33pts

Thursday, Sept. 22, Burapha – Stableford

The forecast for today was also very bad but we decided to take our chances and go anyway and again we were lucky and got around dry.  The last group was just coming off the 18th green when the rain started.

Again we played two flights, off the blue and white tees to keep everyone happy.  As the course was very wet and no carts on the fairways we had ‘pick and place’ rule in effect.

Off the blue tees Mark Lang was the winner with thirty five points.  Lyle Blaw was playing his last game with us for this trip and he came second with thirty two points and Jon Batty was third with thirty points while also having the consolation of recording the only ‘2’ of the day in either flight.

Off the white tees Russell Gilroy had the best score of the day with thirty eight points, which was a very good score on a course that was playing very long.  John Fenwick was four points behind but he still came second with thirty four and Ted Morris, who at one stage looked like he was going to burn it up, faltered a bit on the back nine and had to settle for third and last place with thirty three points.

Blue Tees

1st Mark Lang (6) 35pts

2nd Lyle Blaw (11) 32pts

3rd Jon Batty (8) 30pts

White Tees

1st Russell Gilroy (17) 38pts

2nd John Fenwick (19) 34pts

3rd Ted Morris (15) 33pts
