After Monday and Wednesday’s golf outings were cancelled due to heavy rain there were only seven groups out on Friday with the cut in the two divisions set at 8-17 and 18+.
Magne Gunnarson recorded the best score of the day, winning division 2 with 37 points, three ahead of Willy Van Heetvelde in second on 34 and then there were five players fighting for third place, all with 33 points. There were three 17’s on the back nine and in the end Jim Connelly beat Gary Linske and Colin Aspinall 13/12/11 on the back six while Glyn Evans and Tony Thorne lost out with only 16 on the back nine.
Wilf Latham was the winner in division 1 with 36 points, Per Forsberg came second on 33 and Marc Brunner was third with 32.
Near pins went to (Div 1) Marc Brunner and Tim Hake, and (Div 2) Theo Bahrt, Jim Connelly, Magne Gunnarson and Frank Kelly.
There were no ‘2’s in division 1 so a rollover to next Friday and in division 2 Jim Connelly birdied the 3rd and 13th.
