PSC Golf from The Outback Golf Bar
Monday, March 16, Burapha – Stableford
Twenty-six players at Burapha today, playing probably the less popular of the two courses, the C & D nines, which seemed to play a little easier than usual, although the lower markers retained their dominance.
Some of the early arrivals for next week’s big Hua Hin trip flexed their muscles, particularly perhaps as General Jack had advised all the players that their handicaps would not change this week. Philippine visitor Rub Guthrie led the way with the day’s top score of 40 points, winning Div A from another Hua Hin hopeful, Phil Mitchell, on 38. Harry Vincenzi, who is also in the line-up, filled the third place on 35.
Mick Beresford was a winner at Green Valley on Friday.
In Div B another Hua Hin prospect, Bruce McAdam, had 35 points to win from Kerstin Persson who beat Ivan Plunkett on c/ b with 32. Bob Lindborg continued his revival to take fourth with 31 points.
There were four ‘2’s from Peter Jeucken & Phil Mitchell (C8) and Bob Finley & Phil Mitchell (again) on D3.

Tuesday, March 17, Phoenix – Stableford
Only one division at Phoenix today, once again on the Ocean and Mountain nines, which are really the only loops to play at the moment as the Lakes are in desperate need of renovation, due to start shortly.
So only one winner, who was Phoenix member Charlie Brown with 35pts, three clear of JP Maffray and Bill Hewitt was one further back in third.
There were two ‘2’s, from playing partners Bill Hewitt (M5) and Samorn (M7).
1st Charlie Brown (16) 35pts
2nd Jean P Maffray (12) 32pts
3rd Bill Hewitt (16) 31pts
Wednesday, March 18, The Emerald – Stableford
We had one of our rare visits to Emerald and found the course in good condition with the new grass planted on the edge of some fairways growing well. We were joined today by Lance Robinson and seven of his party.
As with most courses at the moment, the 22 players virtually had the course to themselves but we are not quite sure what happened to two more potential players, leaving Dennis Pelly without his playing partners, so he decided to give it miss.
Div B places were filled by local players, Bob Lindborg (38pts) from Suzi Lawton on 36 (the recent lesson must have worked) and Jimmy Little third with 34 points.
Div A was claimed by visitors, with Tony Nastasi winning on 33 points from Martin Burbidge (32) in second and Bob McDowell edging a four-way count back to come third with 31.
Peter Jeucken and Brad Jordison had the only ‘2’s, both on the 7th.

2nd Martin Burbidge (07) 32pts
3rd Bob McDowell (17) 31pts

2nd Suzi Lawton (29) 36pts
3rd Jimmy Little (20) 34pts
Friday, March 20, Green Valley – Stableford
We started off with 39 players but at the last minute we had three cancellations, which is still better than “no shows”, so we ended up as 9 groups of 4 balls. Perfect!
The previous week there had been water all over the course due to damaged sprinklers and this time they had repaired about 30% of them. No big deal except that the carts had to keep on the rough on many holes. Hopefully this problem will be resolved in the next few weeks.
The usual players were seen at the top of Div A, Peter Nixon (39) and Geoff Stimpson (36) whilst Mick Beresford showed that he is ready for Hua Hin, scoring 39 points to win Div B. Tim Knight, also a Hua Hin player, continued his improvement with 37 points to win Div C.
There were three ‘2’s from Bruce Milner (5th), Geoff Stimpson (12th) and Peter Nixon (16th).
Div A (0-12)
1st Peter Nixon (09) 39pts
2nd Geoff Stimpson (06) 36pts
3rd Brad Jordison (04) 35pts
4th Jean P Maffray (12) 35pts
Div B (13-18)
1st Mick Beresford (16) 39pts
2nd Tony Pattison (16) 36pts
3rd Eddy Beilby (17) 35pts
4th Kevin Hamilton (13) 34pts

1st Tim Knight (27) 37pts
2nd Suzi Lawton (29) 32pts
3rd Andy Makara (26) 31pts
4th Sugar Ray Handford (19) 31pts
Saturday, March 21, St. Andrews – Stableford
There were 12 players at St Andrews today, dominated mainly by Aussie visitors but with the exception of the top two, Tony Nastasi and Carl Sellick, the rest of the scores were nothing to write home about.
There were no ‘2’s.
1st Tony Nastasi (09) 37pts
2nd Carl Sellick (05) 36pts
3rd Martin Burbidge (07) 28pts
