PSC golf from Tropical Bert’s
Tuesday, July 9, Bangpra – Stableford
Not the biggest turn out, but it was a field that was determined to have a great day out on a great course. The run up there saw the traffic fairly quiet, and on arrival we saw that the course seemed to be also quiet. Except for the monkeys that is, I forgot about them and they were into my cart and running away with some items at the first green. Cost me a three-putt!
A quick book in saw us all at the start a little early and we were allowed to get away. The course has seen much rain of late, so the buggies were allowed only on the paths. We also noted the bunkers were wet and some had a small pool in them. The fairways were not too bad, but were muddy in places and the rough was wet and tricky.

So to the greens, and they were a problem. Still slow going up and really fast coming down, they had also been treated and were in places bumpy and full of sand. They were really difficult to read as at times they bounced all over.
It did not take that long to get around, and with a quick stop in the restaurant and a quiet road on the way back we were at Bert’s very early. So we were able to do an early results presentation which showed, except for the winner, that the scores were a bit disappointing. The winner with a fine 38 points, on a tough day, was John Hackett with a big gap to John Davis in second with 32 points. We then had Derek Brook in third with 31 points and Mike O’Brien in fourth with 30 points on count back over Dick Warberg.
Friday, July 12, Plutaluang – Stableford
Not many players at Bert’s so it was soon into the cars and off to the course, which is not too far away and with the traffic fairly light it does not take too long to get there. The booking in is also fairly swift here, so it was not long before we were changed and on to the first tee.

The results showed that the winner was Daryl Evans with 38 points ahead of Max Bracegirdle in second with 35 points and Alan Sullivan in third with 34. T.T.F.N.
