On the way in to the clubhouse the East and South courses looked very busy but luckily we had the North and West nines booked today.  The greens here were still very slick and some very tough pin positions were reflected in the scores.

Steve Cliff took the win in division 2 with 33 points and Frank Grainger beat Theo Bahrt17/15 for second place after both scored 30 points each.  Andres van De laan came in fourth with 28 points.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Steve Godfrey, Tim Hake and Dave Horne, and (Div 2) Alan Bissell, William Chang, Paul Sturgeon and Willy van Heetvelde.

Bob Comartin birdied the lighthouse hole for the only ‘2’ of the day.

Friday, March 30, Eastern Star – Stableford

The weather forecast was not too promising today but there was still a good turnout with 7 groups out and the cut at 9-18 and 19+ in the 2 divisions.  This course is still improving every week with some very slick greens and this was reflected in the scores today.

Raivo Velsberg, playing off 9, won division 1 with 35 points, Paul Butler was second on 34 and Frank Kelly beat Mark Cooper on a 19/17 count-back after they both came in with 33 points.  In fifth place was Dennis Scougall on 30 points.

In his last game with us before his return back to the UK, Paul Sturgeon beat David Phillips 14/13 on the back six to win division 2 with 34 points each.  Steven Cliff was third on 33 points, Theo Bahrt took fourth on 31 and after no game in three months Glyn Evans came in fifth with 30 points.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Brian Green and Dennis Scougall, and (Div 2) Colin Aspinall and Bill Kana.
