Sunday, June 15, Green Valley – Monthly Medal

1st Peter Henshaw (22) net 70

2nd Pat Regan (12) net 73

3rd Christian Boysen (13) net 74

Irishman Peter the ‘silver surfer’ Henshaw, whom  this column has cited as a “nice guy” several times previously, was the man of the match today but more importantly took home the lead crystal engraved whisky glass emblematic of the monthly medal.  He also picked up a bottle of Jamerson’s Irish whiskey for his troubles.

Peter Henshaw.Peter Henshaw.

To take the prizes Peter had to shoot a net 70 while his compatriot Pat Regan used all his course knowledge to fire a net 73 and gain the silver podium spot.  Christian Boysen closed the flight with a net 74 but first he had to gain a count back decision over the unlucky JP Maffray.

Monday, June 15, Pattana – Stableford

1st Peter Walker (19) 34pts

2nd Jim Elphick (26) 34pts

A relatively modest group, attributed to the season and back to back playing days, took on the Gussan designed Pattana layout.  The scores on the day reflected the difficulty of the course as Peter Walker and Jimmy ‘two shots’ Elphick led the boys in with co-man of the match 34 point returns; the following count back  sorted it out in Peter’s favour.

Friday, June 19, Phoenix – Stableford

1st Walter Baechli (15) 33pts

2nd Peter Henshaw (22) 30pts

3rd Paul Bray (8) 28pts

The society, usually brimming with bravado when they attack Phoenix, was a bit meek on this day, perhaps due to recent seasonable precipitation.  That was fine with the flamboyant Walter Baechli however who was man of the match with a best on the day 33 points.

Peter ‘the silver surfer’ Henshaw, who the paymaster knows by his first name, made it twice to the pay window this week with 34 points.  Irishman Paul Bray was gob-smacked to find his 28 points was good for the third podium spot.
